Studio Marimba

Listen to the Studio Marimba: Range Samples – Playing Around
The 3-1/2 octave studio marimba has a solid oak frame and fiber resonator tubes that amplify each individual bar. The bars are made from padauk, a resonant African hardwood.
It is technically a xylophone, since all the bars are the same width. It forms a complete 3-1/2 octave chromatic scale, with 42 – 1-1/2″ bars and resonator tubes. It features folding legs and detachable resonator tubes for ease in transporting and storage.
Low note is the F below middle C.
I believe marimba mallets are a personal preference and I do not include mallets with the marimbas.
Dimensions: 28″w x 50″l x 34″h (approx).
Price: $699
Hi!
I think your Marimbas are beautiful and I am interested in buying one for my daughter who is an avid bell/xylophone player. I am confused though as to what the resonator tubes are constructed from. I admit, I don’t know much about marimbas, although, I want to be sure this is the right thing for her. She plays in both concert band and orchestra and would like to use the 3.5 octave for that use.
Thanks so much,
Janet
Mr Young, I recently purchased a used studio model of yours here in Minnesota. I love the sound and the looks and have been very happy so far. I am curious to know if there are any special measures I should be taking to maintain it as winter is coming and it gets very dry here when it gets cold. I keep several other instruments around and hope my normal hydration regimen will work. Thanks for both the beautiful instrument and any suggestions you may have.

Hi, Gordon! Hope you are doing well. I have five keys (the sharps of the first octave above middle C) that you made a few years ago that need to be tuned. May I send them to you along with the naturals so that you can tune them to fit in? The whole instrument is a bit flat. This is not one of your instruments, just replacement keys.
And would you let me know, please, how much this will cost?
Thanks. I will always remember your beautiful wisteria!
Thanks.
Hi folks, I just wanted to let you know that after 6 years this instrument still plays well and only now requires some tuning. All parts have remained in great condition. This is by far the easiest instrument to lug around, light and foldable!
I bought it as a student for home practice whilst studying my Bachelor of Music. I’ve since used it at countless gigs (classical and theatre) and even on my last studio session with a band signed to Universal Music.
On a personal note I’d like to extend my gratefulness to Gordon for his time and patience in shipping the instrument… not to mention the discount!

I purchased the 3-1/2 octave studio marimba and I am very pleased with it. The craftsmanship is excellent and the tone is great.
Mr. Gordon Young does an excellent job and I would highly recommend him to anyone. He is a very good communicator. The marimba arrived during the time he said it would, and it was in excellent condition.
A very satisfied customer.
